Tenders Needed at These Ports?
We will be sailing over Thanksgiving week on the Sea Princess. Will any of the following ports require the use of tenders to get ashore? Ports are Aruba, Caracas, Grenada, Dominica and St Thomas (I know St Thomas does not use tenders). Thanks for your help!

You might need to take a tender at St. Thomas (dunno about the other ports) if there are a lot of ships in port that day. Only so much room at the inn, so to speak, and so your ship might have to anchor rather than dock, if docking is on first come first serve basis.

What is a tender?

Deborah - it is the way your legs feel after walking all day.

Seriously, it is a little boat that takes people into ports off of the cruise ship when the port is too shallow for the big ship or if there is not enough room for the ship to dock and it has to achor.

I have been to the ports you have listed and tenders were not required. Depending on various circumstances the day you are in port it is entirely possible a tender might be used. The above poster was correct in stating that alot of times it depends on how many ships are in port that morning.

Have a GREAT cruise!

Sharon

I have not been to Aruba or Dominica. For my previous cruises we did tender at Grenada. We did not tender in Venezuela. I have never tendered in St. Thomas.

Unless Granada has built a new dock recently, you will tender there.
