Sunquest is a travel wholesaler from Canada, their cruiseline is actually chartered through Sun Tours which I believe is headquartered in London, England. Sunquest is a very reputable company, they have been in business for 30 years, I have been booking my vacations with them for 19 years. Always top notch service and never any problems. They have 2 ships, the Sunbird and the sundream they are older ships , usually bought from the bigger cruise lines when they retire the ship. They are a good value cruise, certainly not RCCL or Celebrity but they are clean, the service is great and the food is pretty good to. The currency they go by on board is pound sterling. Any other questions let me know.
OK now I know. The company is called Sun Cruises and they have four ships. The Carousel, Seawing, Sundream and Sunbird (the old RCCL Song of America).

Their main sales office is in England and the mother company is Airtours.

The ships are not up to U.S. safety-at-sea standards.

Paul

Paul, I am sorry to disagree with you you but the ships certainly are are up to safety standards. They are part of the North American Leisure Group which is known to have some of the most stringent safety rules in the world. These ships are not up to Celebrity or Rccl standards as I said before, but as far as safety goes they are excellent.

We sailed on the Sundream a couple of years ago through the carribean. And I'm sorry to say we thought it was horrible. We've cruised 8 times and it was the worst of all of them. The food was bad i.e. they would serve spaghetti bolognese for lunch and then serve pasta with shrimp for dinner - the thing is that it was the exact same entree, they just added the 3 tiny shrimp on top.

It was a good price, and service was good but accomdations, food and entertainment were horrible.

In my opinion - if you want cheap then do Sunquest, if not go for a big name like HAL or RCCL.

I will only sell Suquest cruises if my clients really really wants it. I do not put out the brochures, and I do not recommend them. I had one client who said the smelled sewage in thier cabin the whole week!!

The only sad thing is, they have the most interesting itineraries in the Caribbean.

When are you planning to go? The following websites may help settle some of the discussion. This one is for Sun Cruises http://www.suncruises.co.uk/ and this one rates the various cruise ships (2 of which are part of the 4 Sun Cruises runs and rate above the required 85) http://www.cdc.gov/nceh/vsp/default.htm

We are doing an Italian cruise with them later this spring and can let you know what we think, if you like. I have heard as well that the food is repetitous, but we'll find out. The people we heard that from had travelled the Caribbean with them and it has been a while, so maybe things have changed.

The currency on board is pounds sterling, they do not accept Bank of Montreal Mastercard and the only drinks mentioned to be included anywhere is coffee and tea, but they have an 'umlimited drink' program. Since we don't know the cost of drinks on board, we have no idea if that would be worth while, since ALL passengers in your cabin must participate.

Hope this helps. As for the 2 ships that are missing from the ratings, I've inquired and am waiting for a reply.

Orlean

We've done both the Sunbird and the Sundream, and although they are not your top of the line cruise ships, they are very comfortable, with what we found to be, excellent service.

The itineraries were fantastic, the ships were clean, every employee was extremely friendly, and while some of the entrees may appear repetitive, there was always something interesting to choose from. There are always 3-4 options...so if you have spaghetti for lunch, then choose something different for dinner. (Why would you choose pasta twice in a day anyway??)

Unfortunately not everyone has the money to do a RCCL/HAL cruise, and for those of us, who travel 3-4 times a year, this makes sense, as we can still have our 2 week vacation to the Caribbean over Christmas, and also spend 2 weeks travelling somewhere during the summer.... wheras, if we did only one RCCL/HAL cruise, we'd have to kiss any other vacation for the rest of the year goodbye.

There is nothing wrong with Sunquest's cruises...they are comfortable and reasonable ways to enjoy cruising, without the stuffiness of the 'top of the line' clientele.
