Stateroom to be assigned ????Holland America

Hi there,
we booked our cruise some time ago and were given a cabin no .
Today, I printed out my cruise docs / boarding passes and it now says to be assigned.
Category VD.
It is the weekend here so can not get in touch with my travel agent.
Is this a good sign for an upgrade or an oversight????
Any ideas would be appreciated .
Thanks
Donna

Did you book a specific cabin, or did you book a category guarantee? Is category VD the cabin category you intended to book? If you wanted a specific cabin for some reason, then by all means call your travel agent tomorrow. Having no assigned cabin really means nothing. It does not indicate if you will or will not get an upgrade.

We always do the unassigned with HA and have always had very good luck of being upgraded a couple levels. One time it was four levels to a small suite and we didn't find out about that cabin until the day we boarded. I would not worry too much.

Hi Doug,
when we booked earlier in the year, we booked a balcony cabin and were given a cabin number. All the correspondence from my travel agent had the cabin number on it. When I printed out our boarding passes last night it then, had to be assigned ( still VD cat which we booked )
Our cruise is for the 16th Sept ( We leave for our trip in 2 weeks.
Travel agent is still away.
fmpden, I hope we are as lucky as you seem to have been
Thanks for your help
Donna

If you booked a balcony cabin category, then you'll get one or better. So no worries there. You'll either get exactly what you paid for or a pleasant surprise. If the specific location is an issue, you should definitely call your travel agent.
