Statendaam, Alaska, August-Advice?

Has anybody done the Glacier Discovery Cruise on the Statendaam? Any advice?

Can't think of any place to avoid on this cruise. So, I'll try and help you with the rest of your questions. The Statendam is a great ship - only drawback is it only has 2 elevator banks/staircases at each end of the ship. Some of the other HAL ships have a 3rd one mid-ships. Just remember where your stateroom is located in relation to the Atrium, and you'll be fine after the first few tries. If you already know your stateroom, get a deck plan and memorize where the elevators are, etc. Getting around the ship is a snap. Sitka is a small town, but very pretty. The islands surrounding the harbor are just beautiful. Juneau is my favorite, but don't ask me why. Ketchikan is a great place to shop, as well as see totem poles. Did any of this help? I know your feelings, as I can remember my first cruise to Alaska. Relax and enjoy the best experience.

When are you going in August? A good friend of mine will be taking over as cruise director in early part of the month.
