Star Cruises in Asia
Has anyone been on a cruise with Star Cruises from Singapore to Phuket?
If so, what were your impressions? Did you enjoy it?
Thanks, Minty.

Minty,
I did a cruise from Hong Kong to Singapore last year. Loved the itinerary and came across many passengers from the Star line. Most seemed happy. Sepends on what you are looking for. Their are many lines that do the itinerary and I definitly recommend it. Whatever line you choose.

Vickie

Hi Minty
We have done a Star cruise from Singapore last Aug. The cruise was for 7 days and returns to Singapore taking in Phuket as one of it's ports of call. I am not sure whether you came just do a Singapore / Phuket leg of the trip. However we are going to do the cruise again next year leaving from and returning to Phuket. It was a fantastic holiday but loose some weight before you go as you can eat all day. The entertainment is non-stop. You will love it.

Have a good cruise.
Ian

Thanks vickie & Ian for your replies.
I was wondering Ian, if you noticed many/any children on the cruise, and which ship did you go on - Virgo or Gemini?
Thanks again
Minty

Hi Minty:

This is a cruise line that Australians love. The Virgo and Leo are larger ships (2000 passengers) than the Gemini (about 800 passengers). Personally I like the Gemini better. We have done it once from Singapore-Singapore and once like Ian from Phuket-Phuket.

On 8 July we are doing it again Singapore-Singapore in a balcony cabin -can't wait!!

How old are your children? There are not many children on board - if you pick Australian school holidays you may get some but it is probably fairly unlikely. It is a cruise line that caters mainly for the 40 - 60s I would think. The first time we went we took our son who was 18 and his mate. They had a great time, but with a limited choice of companions of their own age group. Not that that mattered to them.

We have also cruised on RCCL and Orient (Crown Odyssey) and think Star Cruises compare more than favourably. Their entertainment is terrific and the food superb.

It is a destination cruise of the finest order - has my recommendation.
Thanks Beryl for your reply. Lucky you going on another cruise - hope you have an enjoyable holiday.

Our kids will be 6 & 4 when we want to go - still little, but quite well travelled already.

We really want to experience "the cruise thing", but are loath to travel on the Pacific Sky as we have visited all the destinations it travels to. Star Cruises seems to fit the bill - except for its lack of "kid" facilities. The Virgo seems to have more going for it in this regard, but doesn't do the itinerary we are interested in, so the Gemini it must be.

Thanks again for your comments

Minty
