Hi Kris,

Too much to see and do in St. Kitts.
500 years of history there.

Everyone has their own idea of touring therefore is is difficult to say what you would like or not like.

Beautiful black sand beaches.

The ship's tours should include Brimstone Hill Fortress and Aribelle Batik. $50 for a cab for four if you prefer.

Take a cab into Basseterre a West Indian Town. No vendors to bother you. Very friendly natives.

It you really want to do something different take a cab to the O.T.I. Turtle Beach Bar and Grill and you can see and photo the wild green vervet monkeys. There are over 36,000 of these simians on the island. They come out for food from the restaurant by the hundreds. You can not pet them.

Just a few of many things to see and do.

Paul

I would recommend hiring a cab on shore and skipping the ship's excursions.

All rates are set. We hired a cab (minivan) for US$18 per person. It was a half-day tour, including Basseterre, the batik factory (store) and the Brimstone fortress. Our driver was excellent.

Are you a beach bum? If so, South Friar's Bay (not to be confused with Friar's Bay) is for you. There's a long stretch for walking. Topless sunbathing at the extreme end. Great snorkeling. The cab ride to the beach will give you a look at this tiny island.

The people are friendly and helpful. Not much shopping, but some unique clothing. You can walk to the shopping from the ship.

We just returned from a world cruise and only took one tour. Did all else on our own and "discovered" much more than those on tours. Interacting with the natives is the highlight of any trip for us. St. Kitts is a great place to start with this approach.

Happy sails.
