Is it better to leave from Seattle or Vancouver---we want round trip from either place.

Any cruise ships known for adults instead of families with lots of kids? We preffer the more adult ship.

What is the preferred line? We are thinking of HAL

Select Vancouver, if possible. It sounds HAL will be a great fit. If, for some reason, you can't find the exact itinerary, date, etc. on HAL, then look into Celebrity or Princess.

I also agree HAL is probably what you are looking for. I would be more intetested in the cruise itinerary and your time in port than which port it leaves from. I have been through both Seattle and Vancouver and it didn't make a lot of difference. But, I will say the drive between the port and airport in Vancouver is pretty nice, though. DO try to get an itinerary that includes Glacier Bay :)

HAL is a good choice but there will still be kids when school is out, more of them on the roundtrip Seattle sailings.

The one way Seward to vancouver is my favorite, esp. with Hubbard Glacier and Skagway.

If kids are not your thing, avoid Carnival, RCI and NCL. And, go late in the season.

I like the Hal ships. We wanted Vancouver because we had never been there before so we flew in two days before our trip to visit. Also, on the return we took another 3 days to go to Victoria as we had never been there before. It made for a great trip.

While Vancouver is a "must-see" along with Victoria, the BC capital, you can generally find less expensive roundtrip air fares to Seattle. For example, flights with one or more stops from Dallas/Fort Worth to Seattle range from $50 to $120 less than to Vancouver. Non-stop flights on AA are the same price...go figure???

While HAL is beoming more family oriented, it's our preferred line. Go while school's in sesssion to minimize the kids.

What ship is good? I am interested in Statedam because it is smaller???? But nit is from 1993 .....
Or Volendam which is newer but soooo big in comparison

Best trip: 14 days return. (Not inside passage).
If not, 7 days, one way, north bound, from Vancouver.

Vancouver is a wonderful city - one of the best. Stay a day or more if you can. Holland America is a good, adult line - some times a little too adult. Senile at times may be better. But still a great line. I would also do Celebrity if the itinerary was good. HAL also has a great land tour - 7 days to Fairbanks. I think Princess does it also. It would be a shame to go to Alsaka without he tour.

Do not let the higher airfare to Vancouver stop you from booking a departure from there. Many people fly into Seattle and take Amtrak, Quick Shuttle or a ship transfer to Vancouver.
