Spring time on Rhine Uniworld or Taste of Danube September Avalon

I know these are 2 very different cruises but they are what I can afford! Uniworld Springtime on the Rhine at end of April includes Keukenhof Gardens and Van Gogh Museums on the Empress and stops in Cologne. Negative to me is that it ends in Frankfurt, which looks boring!
Avalon is Budapest to Vienna on the Tapestry in the Fall. For anyone who has done either of theses cruises, rivers (Danube vs. Rhine), or cruise lines, can you please give me your opinion?

Done both headed for Austria Budapest in april

super scenic especially around fall Salzburg Avalon ship

better 40% off deals with Globus affordabletours.com

cruisecritic.com will have reviews on both.

Fall Budapest to Vienna for me.

Rhine is pretty in many areas gets quite euroindustrail

around Frankfurt still ok but not quite as pretty.

Sometimes the rivers in the fall have issues with low water (like now)and the boats cannot always to what is expected. Just to keep in mind. Not so much in the spring.

I did the Uniworld river cruise from Bucharest to Vienna this past June 2011 .

Stayed 4 days in Vienna and then took the train to Prague.

I did not like Avalon's Intinerary

Uniworld was terrific, room, service and food was great.

If you want to go from Bucharest to Vienna portion of the Rhine...then go with Uniworld. ( my opinion !)

Thank you for your replies. I like the Vienna itinerary nut the Uniworld ship so I'll have to decide! Any other comments would be great. Percy, were you on the tranquility and was it in good shape? I ask because it's there oldest ship.

Did you look at Tauck? They are truly an all inclusive cruise. There are no add ons and thus no "surprises" at cruise end. We sailed with them in September and there was absolutely nothing to complain about. We thought they gave us the best holiday we've ever had.
