South Georgia (only?)
As there isn't an Antarctica forum, posting this here since I don't think it's appropriate for South Georgia 2 b considered part of S. America. Have done the Antarctic cruises a couple of times but now would also like to go to S. Georgia. All the tours I see combine S. Georgia with the Falklands and the Antrct. Peninsula... not that I wouldn't love going on a 3 week trip again to all the places I've been twice before, but in the interest of time I was just wondering if there is any way to visit just S. Georgia reasonably easily (which means not chartering my own yacht!) on an organized excursion. Theoretically I guess I could hop on a cruise 1-way and then disembark and return on a cruise coming back… but it’s not like there are that many hop-on hop-off sightseeing tour buses in that part of the world :-)

There's a very useful search at https://www.cruisecompete.com/search.php: just type South Georgia into the keyword box
The Silver Cloud on 28 Feb 2018 (and similar in 2019) is a possibility: 21 nights from Ushuaia to Cape Town with 5 days at South Georgia (though it does also have one day in the Falklands) I'm not sure if the following will format correctly--I don't know what html tags Fodors accepts and preview doesn't work. <pre> Day 1 Ushuaia Day 2 At Sea Day 3 Steeple Jason Island and West Point Island Day 4 Port Stanley Day 5 At Sea Day 6 South Georgia Day 7 South Georgia Day 8 South Georgia Day 9 South Georgia Day 10 South Georgia Day 11 At Sea Day 12 At Sea Day 13 At Sea Day 14 Gough Island Day 15 Tristan da Cunha Day 16 Nightingale Island Day 17 At Sea Day 18 At Sea Day 19 At Sea Day 20 At Sea Day 21 Cape Town Day 22 Cape Town </pre> |
