Sled dog tour in Juneau?

I have done the mush dog sled tour in Skagway but have booked a tour there already. Doesn't Juneau have the same kind of tour?

Found my own answer!

Thanks all!

Are you going to both? Can you let me know which one was the best in your opinion? I can't decide between them. We will be going there next year.

Hi Jessica, I have booked the one in Juneau and will be going next Monday. I get back on the 31st so will let you know how they compare. I booked the Yukon and train excursion in Skagway this time so that will be new to me.

Hi Cheezz,
So exciting! are you going by cruise line? We have been there already in Alaska before, but planning to go back. We did the train excursion last time! It was truly magical!
Please do let me know how you liked the dog sled tour. Looking forward to hear about your experience!

I'm back! So, we did enjoy the sled dog experience in Juneau. It was very much like the one in Skagway so I would recommend either one, really. In Skagway, we did the Yukon, railway excursion (about 6 hrs) thru Princess. It takes you by bus up into the Yukon and you stop at Caribou Crossing for lunch - yummy bbq chicken. They don't tell you ahead of time, but there are animals to feed and pet (llamas, horses, bighorn sheep, etc) as well as sled dog puppies. PLUS! If you want to (after lunch), you can opt to pay for a ride on the sleds with the huskies - not as long as a separate excursion, but you get the experience and it's cheaper than the separate excursion. The bus then takes you to the train which you ride back to Skagway. Might be a way to get 2 excursions in at one port if you have your eye on something else in Juneau.

Wow looks like you had a great time! this railway excursion was by bus? Sounds like fun, I love puppies. My goodness can't wait to go back again. We were thinking this time to do a back to back... how was the weather? I think due to our schedules we also would be going at the end of August. Let me make myself a nice cup of coffee and really start to look at the options! you have inspired me!
thank you for letting me know!

The Yukon trip was out by bus and back by rail. Lunch included. The weather the weather was rainy the first port day (Aug 26) but very nice the last 2. If fact, we were running around in light t-shirts. We had unusually nice weather. If you go earlier in August, it would probably be better, but you never know. BTW, our sled dog excursion wasn't until 5:30pm, so in the morning we got a bus to Mendenhall Glacier & Nugget Falls. It was $47 roundtrip if you get it when you get off the ship. There's lots of excursion booths lined up on the dock, all cheaper than the cruise rate and very reliable. If you have a National Park Pass, it's $5 off too, since Mendenhall is a national park. The $47 gets you into the museum also, which is very nice.

thank you for those tips. I didn't realize that there were also sled dog tours late afternoon. That is nice to know, so I could to something else in the morning and early afternoon. I can hardly wait to go! love Alaska
