Should I bother trying to find a cheaper rate on RC?
 

I think I read here that they don't do discounts for different agencies, and so far the prices have all been the same, other then fees and insurance costs which vary slightly. Should I still keep looking, or is it an exercise in futility?

If all the prices are the same, then I would go with the agency where I feel confidant that they would handle any problem that comes along.

If the prices go down and you see it - you would get the price reduction, unless: you have made final payment and/or it is for 'new bookings only'.

I had the same question a few weeks ago, and sure enough all prices for Royal Caribbean were the same everywhere I looked. However, if you use cruisecompete.com you will get quotes from different agencies which will include differing shipboard credits. We went with the best credit, and even got a bottle of wine for each cabin too.

The quotes will seem to be different because everyone quotes a slightly different category. I recommend posting an exact category and deck and comparing the offers from there.

When we booked, all the prices were the same. We went with a national wholesale chain club. They gave us a $200 in-store credit and free dinner for two at the specialty restaurant onboard. Other places offered the same price but with $100 OBC.

When prices are increasing, agencies holding group space often can get you on RCL at lower rates. However, as prices have been moving downward, there hasn't been as much variation lately.

That said, it's always a good idea to use http://www.CruiseCompete.com to compare prices. Note that you may have to contact some of the agencies directly to find out exactly how much onboard credit they're offering.

I'd be curious to know what AAA does for you. I checked them here and they quoted the standard rates - nothing more, no perks.
