<<Giovanna, we are thinking of renting a 4x4 on Aruba and doing our own touring. Is there a lot of traffic? Is it hard to get around? Better to do a tour?>>

I think you would be okay on your own in a 4X4. I don't remember horrendous traffic, but actually didn't pay much attention because we were in a taxi and not worried about other cars. As I noted anove, there were many cabs waiting for hire outside the terminal where we docked. My husband discussed price, where we wanted to go, etc. and that was that. He did what he said he would do and charged what he said he would charge. It worked fine for us.

OK, Vacations to Go had to call Royal Caribbean to get a clarification.

We will go from the Caribbean thru one set of locks and anchor in Gatun Lake, just as two of you said. That will take around 2hrs. We will then be tendered to shore where we have a choice of 19 shore excursions. Basically, the excursions will pick us up from Lake Gatun and then drop us off in Cristobal where the ship will sail to while we're on an excursion.
