Shore Excursions
I'm taking a cruise on the Adventure of the Seas in October to the Southern Caribbean. Can anyone suggest any nice shore excursions for Barbados & St. Lucia? A little adventurous (spelling?) but would like to see some sights on the islands. Thanks for your input! Don

In St. Lucia, we toured a distillery (and tasted) went to the drive-in volcano, and a botanical garden/waterfall, then snorkeled in a marine park.
Four of us rented a car together, and for $30 had a driver. Given that a St. Lucian driver's license for one of us would have been $20, we thought it was a bargain. |
St Lucia is my favorite caribbean island. IMO, it is best seen and enjoyed from the water. The scuba diving is spectacular, there are wonderful beach dives (especially near Anse Chasnet), or you can snorkel. There are many boat trips offered which go around the island, anchor in a lagoon where you can snorkel or dive or just swim. Try to take a catamarand, it's more enjoyable and fun than a regular boat. On land, the rainforest is beautiful, you could take a guided hike.

We used this company while in St. Lucia. They were great, quite adventuresome, It was one of the highlights of our trip. They pick you up at the dock, and return on time. Barbados has many tours to choose from when disembark. They have a great terminal, and you can really wing it as I recall. We just went to a great beach close by and relaxed for the day. We did a half day tour from a taxi cab he just drove around. |
In Barbados we went snorkeling with the sea turtles and we also went for feeding time to see the green monkeys.
In St Lucia we went on Shal's Jungle Tours - it was by far the best shore excursion and the most enjoyable day that we have ever spent. If you google either one of these they will come up. The boat in Barbados was a glass bottom boat. |
