# shoes I should bring?

How many pairs of shoes should I bring?<BR><BR>I am a man. I was thinking one pair black dress shoes for my suit (formal nights), one pair brown leather shoes for casual days, one paid of sneakers and a pair of sandals. Is that too much?<BR>

Fred Jun 21st, 2002 11:39 AM

Yes that is too much. Just bring sandals and wear them the whole time! Yes, you can even wear them in the dining room. Even though the cruise lines claim that you cannot wear sandals in the dining room, if you only eat there for dinner, go in with the crowd and nobody will know. Sit down quick and nobody is the wiser.

Fred is wrong. You will want nice shoes with a suit. You will want sneakers if you want to play any sports. Sandals would be good for any other time. You could skip the leather shoes if you're fine with wearing sneakers or sandals with casual long pants. Gee, if you only want to take sandals, then go on a Windjammer Barefoot Cruise.

Hi Ben,<BR><BR>On mass market cruise ships I do the black patent leather for my tux. On casual nights I wear chinos with sneakers. Sandals or boat shoes for the pool. Boat shoes are good with shorts or sometimes I bring an extra pair of older sneakers which are better for walking or climbing on tours and leave the boat shoes at home.<BR><BR>Paul

Just bring sandals and wear them with black socks to formal nights and white socks with shorts - you will fit right in.

Thanks Ronald, your intelligent advice has been well noted.<BR><BR>And so witty.<BR><BR>Paul

Your breakdown sounds exactly right to me. You've got it all figured out!

Carmen Jun 25th, 2002 11:07 AM

That's exactly what my husband brings.<BR>Perfect.<BR><BR>Have a great time!

Billie Jun 25th, 2002 12:17 PM

Why is everyone so mean spirited here? Is this a travel knowledge exchange or a forum for making sarcastic remarks? Believe me, most of you suck, if that's the case. Everything doesn't have to be a bed of roses but I rarely see anyone actually answering anyone's question.

Billie Jun 25th, 2002 12:23 PM

"# shoes I should bring?"<BR><BR>Two, one for each foot.<BR><BR>Hope this helps.

bessie Jul 4th, 2002 11:03 AM

Don't forget your black socks to wear with your sandals. <BR><BR>Mmmmmm, luv that look!<BR><BR>Also hate men who wear dress shoes, dark socks and short shorts, or better yet, wearing swim trunks as shorts. (How European!)

Jesse Jul 4th, 2002 11:09 AM

Bessie you darling!!!<BR>I bet you like your men naked EXCEPT for whitesocks wrinkled around their ankles, now fess up, don't you???

Billy Jul 4th, 2002 02:02 PM

Dear sweet Fred,<BR><BR>Just because you wear your sandals to K-Mart and NASCAR does not mean you can wear them on formal nights in the ship's dining room.<BR><BR>Who needs to go to the evening shows for entertainment when all one has to do is look at Fred and get a good belly laugh.

Kay Jul 9th, 2002 07:28 PM

Boys, Boys, you have it made.<BR>I take two pair of dress shoes, one for each formal dress. Sneakers or hiking boots, depending on the excursions. At least 4 pair of sandels for most days. And then casual low heeled shoes for non formal nites. So nine pair altogether, and of course a purse to match each. My philosophy: a woman can take as much luggage as she can carry.

M.M. Jul 10th, 2002 04:04 AM

My philosophy: a woman can take as much luggage as she can carry. <BR><BR>kay I think you meant"a woman can take as much luggage as her hubby can carry."

DEE Jul 10th, 2002 08:24 AM

bring as many as you can fit in your suitcase. you can never have too many shoes.

Why Jul 10th, 2002 08:42 AM

Ben,<BR><BR>Why bother to wear any shoes at all?<BR><BR>No seriously, (as if you've had any serious replies here) the shoes you listed should be fine. Happy sailing!

To all those who have commented on all of the bad answers, I feel that their are no good answers because there are no real good travel questions here for the most part. Is it true that a grown man does not know how many pairs of shoes he need to take for a 7 day trip; he is either a subtle troll or a complete idiot. The answers are either that they are playing with him or they are outraged by the stupidity.

CariocaRio, you are right .We do have many folks in this country that would ask that question in honesty--just as many that would not know how to give a straight answer--which, of course, is based on how many feet you have!!
