Sending an On-Board 'gift'?
My parents are taking two cruises back-to-back this summer, AMA Waterways Paris/Normandy and then Silversea Lisbon to Barca. It's their 25th anniversary, and I'd like to suprise them with an on-board treat! I've never been on either cruise line, but could those who have possibly recommend something?
I've sent a 'Bon Voyage' gift when they were on a separate river cruise line, but the $50 fruit basket was possibly $7 worth of fruit... Thanks! |
My parents just did a cruise (I think with Princess) to Norway. The trip was about a month after their wedding anniversary, so I called Princess and asked to purchase them an on-board credit. They were happy to do so (just needed the travel date and ship name) and my parents received a nice note upon check-in (I dictated a short message to be included with the notification). They were thrilled to have the extra money to be used towards their final bill - spent any way they wanted!

I like the idea of onboard credit. They can buy a special dinner or something from one of the shops or a photo package, etc.

Good idea! They're big on massages, so one can be 'on me'!

I agree with Sass. OBC and they can get what they want on you! Also how about getting a sign for their room?

A sign?
|
Yes, like Happy Anniversary! :)

Ah! Ok, I was confused! That makes sense! I'll look into that!!

Depending on your budget, you could give them dinner in one of the ship's specialty restaurants, usually about $70 to $80 for two.
My husband's birthday was while we were on a Med cruise last year, six of us went to a specialty restaurant. I'd asked ahead about a birthday cake and I think the quote was $35 for a small one. Decided not to bother but told the waiter we were celebrating his birthday and as often the case in the US, they presented him with a fancy chocolate thing. I sort of remember a sparkler but seems unlikely. |
If they booked with a TA then he/she can handle that for you. We went on a Princess cruise and our TA asked if we were celebrating anything special (our anniv.) and notified the cruise line. The cruise line put a nice sign and balloons on our cabin door. It was a special touch.
Happy 25th to your parents! I am not sure about Silverseas but we also had a nice cake served at our dinner table - singing waitstaff too! The cruise lines do try to acknowledge special events. |
Thank you both! They most likely booked through their Amex TA, Ken, I'll give him a call- thanks so much!!
