Seeing the Sights with a big cruise

My husband and I will be taking our first cruise with Princess in May. I looked at the smaller cruise ships but the service and quality of rooms don't look very exciting and I was looking for something special. I also noticed that many of the posted comments make it sound like I won't see much wildlife on the big cruise ship.
My question is, I realize I won't get up and personal with the wildlife but will we still see some wildlife and glaciers? I assumed there would be opportunities for tours in the ports?
Note: We will be also taking the 4 day landtour as well. With the ultradome cars and Princess lodge, I get the impression you go in style with Princess?

(Paul Therault ([email protected])are you there? I'd like your expertise).
Thanks.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that our cruise is the inside passage and landtour to Alaska

WE sailed on RCCL Rhapsoday in Alaska. While aboard ship we just saw a couple whales. However, there are shore excursions that provide opportunities to see wild life. In Juneau we took a wildlife excursionand saw LOTS of whales(orcas and humpbacks), sea lions, eagles all over. It also depends on the time of year. We went the first week in August. We also took a flight through the glaciers on a small plane. It was absolutely incredible. It was choreographed to music and was just mind unbelievable. Definitely sign up EARLY for the shore excursions you want and have a great time.

Took a Princess cruisetour last June, they did a very nice job.

Don't forget. SMALLER SHIPS ROCK MORE. And I'm not talking Rock and Roll. The bigger the ship, the less movement, the least chance of sea sickness or falling down in the stairway.

We took an Alaskan Cruisetour on Princess to Alaska in June and had a wonderful time. We didn't see whales ups close but saw a lot of wildlife on the landtour through Denali. We have been on other cruises but this one of our best.
