second seating

I have just been confirmed for second seating for the dining area. I had heard on one previous post it was hard to make the shows with this seating. Has anyone else found that to be the case? We will be cruising March 22 for a 4 nighter on Sovereign of the Sea. Our 30th anniversary is the 23rd. This is our first cruise.

In our experience it was no problem. There has always been plenty of time to make the show. In fact most people prefer the 2nd seating. Bon voyage!

Generally, there are two shows per night. One after each "seating". Perhaps what you saw was a post about changes in the way lines have altered their evening meal options such as freestyle dining.
Some lines (like Carnival)now stagger dining in 4 seatings, etc.
In short, you should not have any problems making the shows. Usually the only problems we've run into is when guests send someone to "save" the good seats, thus making it difficult to get the best seats, but even then, we always get to see the show regardless.

If you are worried about making it to a particular show you can always eat in one of the less formal dining rooms or the buffet for that night. You can go earlier and the menu is almost the same.

I prefer second seating but if you are taking kids or teens, most of that age group is in the first seating so my son wasn't crazy about the second seating. We are sailing in April and have chosen first seating for that reason.
