seasickness on land?
 

I just returned from 8 days on a Mexican cruise. I felt fine on the ship, but now that I'm back I'm feeling nauseous and feeling dizzy. Could this be related to seasickness or did I catch a bug of some sort?

You could be simply experiencing "sea legs". Most people get them. After being on the ship for that long your inner ear gets confused from all the motion and even after you get off the ship you still feel like you're moving.

For most people the sensation goes away in a week or two. If not, see you doctor, but 99% of the time it goes away on its own.

This is very common, we and friends or ours experience this alomost everytime we cruise. I would not worry about it.

Hey gonemad, did the delayed seasickness go away? I had that problem after a cruise and it was very scary but did go away after a few weeks. I've been asked to do another cruise next year and I'm a little leery of it because of the lingering effects. Hopefully it would always clear up and not end up being a lifetime of queasiness & lack of balance!

I had a hard time with this for a week after my first cruise. Also had a hard time with the whole rolling feeling,especially when I was in the dining room for some reason..Have been on 3 more cruises over the years, and neither issue has plagued me since. That was a terrible feeling!

I read on another board that you should take/continue taking seasick medicine for a bit when you get home. Do this even if you weren't seasick on the cruise. You can get Bonine or Dramamin in any drug store. It was said this solved the problem of feeling that way.

That's a great tip to keep taking the Bonine after getting home - thanks! It really helped me on the ship last time but I never thought to keep taking it.

My husband and I did a cruise of the Panama Canal and he wore the patch behind his ear the whole time and was not seasick but, when we got home and he removed it, he was seasick for a few days. Someone told us that was a side affect of the patch. Were you wearing a patch?

I wasn't wearing a patch - I took Bonine while on board. It really helped the whole time on the ship - had no problems. Just once we got home I felt like I couldn't stand without holding onto something - off-balance feeling. And somewhat dizzy. I think this time I'll keep taking the Bonine for a few days after getting home.

It happened to me once after a long train trip. Went away after a couple of days. I never knew seasickness meds help after a trip, thank you guys!
