Seasick and Alcohol

Going on my first cruise next Spring--worried about seasickness and did a "search" and read all about the patch, Bonine, Antivert, the wrist bands, etc. etc. Question for experienced cruisers: Though I also read alcohol can contribute to seasickness, let's face it, I can't imagine a week without a glass of wine or a daquiri. If I use Bonine, an antihistamine, or the patch, can I drink without ill effect? Who has?

I use Bonine and take it about a half hour before the ship leaves port. I also drink wine in the evening without ill effects. Maybe I get sleepy with less wine, but that cuts the cost of the cruise - right. I love those fruit, sweet drinks, but they make me very sick even on dry land, so I avoid them. Thus, I don't know about drinking them and taking Bonine.

I took bonine once a day and drank with no sleepy side effects and no seasickness.

Everyone reacts differently when drinking alcohol and taking medications. If you drink the first day and your head falls into your soup you know you can not drink for the remainder of the cruise. If you drink on the frist day and sleep through the entire cruise you know you will know better next time.

Paul
