Seaplane in Ketchikan

Next month we will be taking a Seaplane with Southeast Aviation in Ketchikan from our port stop. Anyone know anything about this company? I have never been on a small plane and a little leary about this....but want the experience.

Hi starrenee - they are one of the local companies that are well known for their tours.

I can't give you a review yet, because I am going with them on July 23! 4 of us are going together with them, including my one friend who really doesn't like flying.

I'll post a trip report when I get back (first week of August), and let you know how it went.

We took a Misty Fjords flightseeing tour with them in August 2004, and they were fine. We landed in a lake and took off again, and it was very interesting and picturesque. (At the time there was a 2-for-1 coupon in the Toursaver Coupon book, which is how we chose them, but that seems to be a thing of the past.) They still seem to receive good reviews.

I'm not going to be able to help you before your trip, then. We are camping/hiking for a week after the cruise, and won't be returning home until August 3rd.

I am sure it will be great fun, though, for both of us!

We went with them in May 2006 and it was fantastic.

A little bumpy on the way out (it was pouring rain) but sunshine & smooth skies once we got to the Misty Fjords itself.

starrenee1 - hope you enjoy your trip!

The flightseeing with Southeast Aviation was really fun. We actually had a sunny day in Ketchikan, which was neat for being so unusual. I posted a trip report on the Alaska boards if you are interested.

I am a long time customer of Southeast Aviation and have flown with them several times. They are an excellent operation and you are sure to have a great tour.
