Seabourn dress code
 

We are taking our first luxury cruise on Seabourn in the Mediterranean. I would like to know what previous Seabourn travelers say about how to dress on board. What is appropriate for "formal nights" and other evenings? It is my experience with the well heeled that "casual" doesn't mean the same thing to them as it does to me! My husband and I are not clothes horses and do not want to pack a lot of extraneous things if not necessary, but we are celebrating a 25th anniversary so chose this cruise line for the experience of being pampered. We are hoping it is not "stuffy"! Any feedback would be appreciated. We depart August 18th.

Seabourn is far from stuffy but, that said, many passengers do like dressing up and it is part of the fun for them.

It is my observation that many, if not most, men wear dinner jackets for formal evenings (aka 'penguin suits', 'tuxedos') and women wear 'elegant cocktail' clothes or long skirts with dressy tops. A few wear long dresses.

For non-formal evenings, most men still wear jackets and women wear 'elegant casual' or dressier. No shorts or swimwear in the dining room, ever !

If dressing up is not your kindof fun, then the alternative Veranda restaurant is available or you can be served course-by-course in your suite (and invite a couple of your new Seabourn friends to join you!).

Formal nights at the main dinning room are quite formal - tux or dark suit and formal dresses. The other nights are sport jacket nights. If you don't want to bring a tux or suit for formal nights, then get room service, or eat at the Veranda restaurant.
