Seabourn Cruises - Worth the Expense
 

I would like to take a cruise on this line but it is very expensive, particularly for a solo cruiser. Would the experience and service be worth the cost?

Strictly a personal observation, never having sailed Seabourn. But if you have to ask...then No, it isn't worth it. IMHO, Seabourn is for those who simply want the best. Cost isn't a consideration.

Thanks for your response. I think your opinion may be correct. Cost to me is a definite consideration since I am not one of the "wealthy" people of the world.

Particularly for a single, I'd say no. Try Radisson or Silversea, possibly Crystal - they have better rates for singles, unless you need a penthouse ;-)

Silversea used to have attractive single supplements.

But single supplements on Silversea have gone up dramatically on many cruises. A 50% single supplement is not unusual -- and that's for the lowest category (window only, no balcony. For balcony it's often 75%.)

Seabourn used to have a capacity controlled 10% supplement for a guaranteed run of the ship cabin. I believe that this is still being offered. All cabins (except for the larger suites) are essentially the same, though some have french doors.

Seabourn is a fine product and takes extraordinarily good care of single passengers. Nearly every night singles are invited (but not pressured) to have dinner with ship staff.

I sail Seabourn two or three times yearly! Check the "run of the ship" fare.....for solo guests! And YES, Seabourn is worth every penny! It's the perfect line for singles.....actually, we're akin to "one big family!"

having just returned from two weeks on the Seabourn Legend, my answer is an unqualified, unequivocal YES.

There were lots of solo travellers - you would not feel out of place at all.
