Sea Princess, RCCL or Celebrity

I'm taking my first cruise ever in August & have several questions. For a balcony room (not suite) which of the above gives you the most space? Comments on the decor and the bathroom space would also be helpful. Is there a better place on the ship to not feel the motion? Food, service, and any other comparisons would be great.

Thanks for the help,

Debbie

Hi Debbie,

The size of the cabin depends on the ship and the category.

Plenty of discussion of where to be on a ship. Most say lowest midship is better but when a ship starts to roll in high seas I really do not think it makes a difference. If you are prone to seasickness you will get sick no matter where you are.

You see you can not be two places at once. You can not say, I was at the top of the ship and I got sick and I went to the bottom of the ship and I wasn't.

Paul

Debbie, I've been on two cruises, Princess and Carnival. Believe me, Princess is the better ship. Sea Princess is a beutiful ship and you will love it. The cabins are not a bad size, and the outside with balconies offer good size. Princess had a better decor, activities, entertainment, FOOD, FOOD, FOOD, FOOD, you get my point. For the money I would try Princess. THe true comparison came when we pulled into Port and there were other ships next to the Sea Princess. THE OTHERS COULD NOT COMPARE IN SIZE AND BEAUTY. Thats when we knew we made the right choice. Have fun.

Which Celebrity ship are you considering? We LOVE Celebrity-the food is fabulous---and the entertainment is WONDERFUL--- you can't go wrong there.....

We did NOT Like RCL- food too salty-but they did have EXCELLENT entertainment.

It's been a while since we were on Princess, as their food quality went down and we switched to Celebrity...

List the ships you are interested in and I'll see if I can help you better..

Debbie:
We are Celebrity fans, for sure. Have been on Infinity (last week) and Mercury (March, 2000). You will LOVE Mercury. It is a beautiful, classy ship with excellent service and amenities. The sky suites on Celebrity are very spacious and located in the best of locations. If you need more info, email me.

Hi Debbie,

We were on the Mercury last year and it was beautiful. The rooms are larger than most other cruise lines, esp. the sky suites. Bathrooms, too are good size. Balcony is a great for Alaska. Sky Suites may rock a little more than lower decks, but on that cruise you're not in open water. Have a great trip!

Anna

Debbie,
I have sailed on RCCL and Celebrity both. I enjoyed the food on Celebrity much better and the staff seemed more professional. I certainly recommend a balancy -- I used mine constantly. Decor on Celebrity was a tad better -- but RCCL also have ships with very beautiful center atriums and dining rooms. Happy Sailing.

Debbie-Celebrity suites spoil you. The ship is beautiful-great spa, fitness center and food- They have a low cal entree every evening that is fantastic, so you don't go home 10lbs heavier(like I did on the most disgusting Carnival line). We have booked a trip in April on the Sea Princess which sounds pretty equal, but my vote now is for Celebrity!

Oh I forgot -The bathroom space is roomier than any of the other cruises we have been on and I would not recommend ANY rooms in the back of the ship. There is serious vibrating and rocking. We were dead midship and were fine, but the theater is in the back and we were bouncing all over during performances and met people whose rooms were in the back and they said it was pretty bad. Last March we were on the Sea Princess to the West Carib. Marcch 9th we were on the Century (Celebrity) and went to the E. Carib. I would definitely do either again. If cost was the same or very close I would probably pick Princess. I very much preferred the pool on the Sea Princess, he liked the library on the Sea Princess better. We thought there was more choices for shows after dinner on Princess. The grand buffet on Celebrity was AWESOME! It truly was amazing, we only looked at it-didn't eat anything. We had the late seating and was not interested in any of the midnight buffets or gourmet bites. He liked the food on Princess better, I thought both were comparable. Celebrity is a bit more gourmet I think. Inside rooms on both-a tad larger on Celebrity, but we were plenty comfortable on Princess. Both were crowded on sea days. The service we had was excellent on both. I thought the Sea Princess was prettier that the Century-although Century was lovely. I'd say both lines would be on the same step. You could always find something to eat at any time on either ship. We don't do the buffet's too often (always eat too much!). Breakfast and lunch in the dining room on both ships was enjoyable. I felt pampered by both. Pool and hot tubs being open 24 hrs (on Princess) not a big deal to us-only swam during the day. Overall, like I said, I think they're pretty much equal but I'd probably go Princess, unless Celebrity was a significant savings. I would like to try RCCL once, maybe next year. Jaana-let us know how your Sea Princess Cruise was.
Janice
