Scandinavia

Hi. I'm looking for a cruise/tour that would go to all 4 capitals and the Fjords -- any suggestions?

Are you looking for a luxury or a mainstream cruise? Most all Baltic itineraries include stops in most of the capitals. But cruises usually concentrate either on Oslo and the fjords or go to St. Petersburg. Not a lot of the weeklong itineraries do both. Some of the longer cruises (particularly on luxury lines like Silversea or Regent Seven Seas) might very well do everything but would cost a fortune.

Another option is that you could do the Baltic Cruise and then when you get to Oslo...

you can book a short 3-5 days cruise of the Fjords.

Or do the Fjords first and then start your Baltic Cruise from Copenhagen

The cruise we did last summer left from Amsterdam and was 12-nights in duration. It did go to Helsinki, Stockholm, and Copenhagen. (Along with Germany, Tallin, and St. Petersburg.)

We sailed on the Celebrity Constellation and really enjoyed the combination of luxury and child friendly activities.

I do believe they have sails to Norway and Fjords. However, as Doug suggested they it may be difficult to find a cruise that will hit all of what you seek.

There is a fairly extensive ferry system in the Baltic. It is certainly possible to piece together an itinerary on your own through a combination of a cruise line and on-your-own flights/ferries.

I do not know how long you want to go for but there is a

combination cruise that you can take that does the capitals plus the Fjords

I assume by the Four capitals you mean
1.Oslo
2.Stockholm
3.Copenhagen
4.Helsinki

There is a Holland American cruise that goes out of Dover Engalnd...

the next stop is Copenhagen and then onward to the Scandanavian Countries, along with St. Petersburg and Tallin.

The cruise then comes back to Dover.

Then from here another cruise leaves for 8 days to do all the Norway Fjords.

On the way back it makes 2 stops in Scotland, so you can spend a full day in Edinburgh.

The other Scotland stop is Invergordon.

Then it returns to Dover.

So what you are doing is actually back to back cruises out of Dover ( England).

However, at no time does the either cruise stop in Oslo !!!

I friend of mine did this combination cruise last year.

Please don't be scared off yet.

We did a Baltic cruise last summer and it was a fantastic experience that we intend to have again, but probably using the ferry system this time.

I would seriously consider the ferry option as it is reasonable and will afford you the opportunity to have more time in each place than is possible with a cruise.

Perhaps you can't hit all four capitals but you could most certainly travel to Helsinki, Stockholm and Copenhagen by ferry.

Stockholm, Copenhagen, and Helsinki are very easy cities to navigate on your own. In fact, we didn't use any of the cruise offered excursions in those cities except for the Vasa tour in Stockholm because of a compressed time-frame.

I think you could piece together a very nice trip flying into one of the capitals and taking two over-night ferries.

Here is a great repositioning cruise. I booked it myself and will add days on my own in Stockholm, Copenhagen & perhaps Oslo.
