Santiago to BA

We are lokking at cruises for January to March 2009 from Santiago to BA. What could we expect from the seas. Will it be like the Med. or will it be rough waters.

Seas will most likely be much rougher than in the Mediterranean, especially as you near Cape Horn and if you go to the Falkland Islands. It is not uncommon for ships to have to skip ports in these areas due to the weather.

We had very benign weather on our SA cruise a few years ago. We even had sunny weather and flat seas at Cabo de Hornos - something the captain said he had not experienced before. I have heard that the chance of storms diminishes in late winter, so going in February is better than say December.

This cruise has gotten a little more expensive since we did it because of the new "reciprocity" fees that Chile and Argentina are now charging.
