San Deigo- Hawaii Cruise- MS Zaandam

Hi,
My wife and I planned to cruise in Oct. 2009. It never worked out. We are looking @ March 2010. We haven't cruised in 35 years. I have been pricing decks and cabins. Prices are varied. Can someone tell me if this is a good price? Verandah Deck, Verandah Suite, B Cabin- $6187.82( includes all taxes etc.) along with 1 dinner, 1 lunch-Pinnacle Grill and $200 onboard credit.
Thanks
TKing

That is an impossible question. What is the length? Is the $6000 for two? What is the price this year? What is the list price?

I checked several different online cruise websites and if that is for two it is a good price. Of course there are lots of bargains out there but you have booked a suite so they don't discount those as much especially at this time. fmpden the title of the post says zaamdam Hawaii so that tells you the lenght of the cruise.

You're correct. Too little info. $6000 for 2. 15 days is the lenght. List-$3899. Price for the fall this year is approximately the same.

Besides the price, are you sure you want that many sea days? The Zaandam is a very nice ship.

Alright, Traveler69, I will play your game. How is it that the title tells me it is a 15 day cruise? I recognize that that Zaamdam is a Holland Am ship. Are all Hawaii cruise 15 days? Are all Holland Am cruises in Hawaii fifteen days? Or am I supposed to have gone to the HA web site and looked up that information when the original poster didn't have the courtesy to provide that information?

traveller69 Aug 14th, 2009 03:41 PM

fmpden I am not playing a game. I just meant that I could answer the question because I knew that the HAL Zaandam Hawaii cruises are 15 days as I have done a couple of them. I didn't mean to be confrontational. However, I do think your comment about the OP not having the "courtesy" to provide the info is out of line.

http://www.vacationstogo.com/fastdeal.cfm?deal=10840 shows different rates for this cruise. or you can request a quote on http://www.cruisecompete.com/searchresults.php/ and see how the rate compares.

The "big" boats (HA, Princess, Costca) etc., have the 'price' that they quote, and then the 'extras', like they add in a trp each day, which, if you decline to give, must ask at the end to be removed!!! also, every drink, can of pop, etc., is extra...so extra, that, after taxes and gratuities, it is approx 2 times the quoted price....that is our experience.

I agree with GBelle--vacationstogo.com is a great site to seek and compare prices. HAL's ships are not huge. We've done cruises on various lines, cruise often, and take one transatlantic a year. We don't spend on board ship other than to book excursions and tip, and we don't hang out in our stateroom. We're sociable, we dance, enjoy the entertainment, sip the captain's complimentary champagne, and we find so much to do each day and evening. This method makes cruising a bargain. Also, check out crucon.com. They've grown, offer great group prices with onboard credit, and if you fly to the departure city, they really take care of you before, during, after.
