Royal Carib. Cabin Choice

Is there a site that gives recommendations for choosing a cabin for different ships? I'm supposed to be doing a family cruise on Royal Caribbean's Empress of the Seas next year and want to find a quiet cabin. I guess a good travel agent will help, but I'm sure there's a great website out there that breaks it all down for you. Any idea?

Cruisecritic.com is an excellent site for finding out just about anything you can imagine about a ship.

Most major cruise web sites will give you an option to look at "deck plans" of the ships (like cruise.com, icruise.com, etc.)

If you want quiet, look over the plans of the deck you want and the decks above and below it. Noise producing rooms that you don't want to be near would include show lounges, dance clubs, bars, casinos and, the main show lounge. You may want to pick a lower deck as they are a little farther away from the noise and cheaper too.

Rooms toward the center of the ship are popular as there's less movement and you're never more than half a ship away from any activity.

Finally, a good travel agent can help as well.

Thanks - I'll check all of those sites.

Leslie S,
If you have a problem with motion, like you mentioned on another thread, you should choose a cabin mid ship, not too high up.

Have I repeated my question? If so, sorry! I've asked on a bunch of forums - I guess I'm losing track. Thanks for your help - midship sounds right!
