Roatan snorkeling @ Tabyana Beach

Taking a cruise which includes Roatan. Read that there is great wade-in snorkeling from Tabyana Beach. True? If so, is there a particular stretch of the beach where the the wade-in snorkeling is? Also is there even better wade-in snorkeling from a nice beach elsewhere not a long way from cruise port? Thanks.
ps Is Gumbalimba worth seeing?

We were on the 1st ship ever to snorkel at Tabyanna many, many yuears ago.It was like swimming in an aquarium! It was a ship's tour. @nd time we just goit a cab there. Then it was only open to tours. So, 2 times we got a cabbie who took us to the hotel next door. We sat on their beach but walked over to the Tabyanna beach and snorkeled there. Somewere I read they now try to stop this with a 'guard'. But how can they stop you if you swim over to the reef?
And, if you take a cab have them drive you along the water. You will see very primative native houses on skinny pilings. Some have an out house at the end of a narrow dock. The other way is paved roads and very nice houses like a lot of islands.

All Carnival ships owned by Carnival, (Holland American, etc. ) now stop at Mahogany Bay, the port Carnival built. Snorkeling here is non exisitant, the beach is nice but its sort of like Grand Turk, beach and very nice stores but no pool. There is nothing else around this port.

We booked our snorkel tour directly with Bananarama. I can't say enough goood things about the people at Bananarama. The only issue is getting to the tour operators outside the Mahogany Bay / Carnival Port area. Since Carnival owns the area they do not allow cabs or tour operators on their property and make you walk 1/8 mile (approx) to meet your tour/ ride.
