River cruise through France
Does anybody have any experience with cruise lines that offer river cruises in France? I have found info on 3 companies: Viking, Uniworld, and Grand Circle Travel, but I still don't know which would be best.
I am travelling with my elderly mother in May or June.
Thanks!

We did a River Cruise in France a few years back..AWESOME!
WE used Elegant Cruises out of NY-the boat was the MS CEZANNE--
It was a terrific boat and hit the best ports- scenery was IDEAL---
Of the ones you listed, I would pick Viking Cruises as the first pick..
You also need to be aware that River Cruises are way way smaller than conventional cruise ships- and do NO have any elevators...I hope your Mom can walk stairs- the boats are 3 floors high-- Dining is open seating...
Breakfast is either buffet or off menu- Lunch is buffet- and dinner is off the menu--
We had a GREAT time and would do it again!!!

Thank you Andy. In my research of available cruise lines, I had not found Elegant Cruises. Let me tell you that I already have experience with Viking. We did the Grand European Cruise that goes from Budapest to Amsterdam. It was a fantasy!.
While researching the cruise line through France I found Uniworld and it is more expensive than Viking. So I thought it may be a lot better (wishful thinking).
I would be happy with Viking but I'll look up Elegant Cruises. I'll let you know!

Manenita-
here is Elegant Cruises from NY's website--
They have a ton of different river cruise ships--
http://www.elegantcruises.com/
and here is their river cruise section:
http://www.elegantcruises.com/rivercruises.html
The ALL TIME BEST River Cruise ships are those by Peter Dielmann:

We had a blast and I know you will too!
the one we took thru Provence from Arles to Lyon was INCREDIBLE...gave us a great oversite and made us want to go back for more...
The MS Cezanne is Italian owned- the cabins were larger than US cruise ships-with Teak baths..the food was ok--NOT gourmet--but still good...the people were a great mix of European ( mostly German- and some French) and American...
