Regal Princess 9 night Baltic cruise in 2004?
 

Hello!

My wife and I are avid travelers but not avid cruisers. I have come to the conclusion that the nicest and easiest way to see the Baltics is by ship. This cruise is the traditional Copenhagen to Copenhagen ~ 9 nts. Here are my question......

1. Cost is about $2,800 per person for rooms with balcony (inc. room, xfers, port expenses, $100 ship board cr; cancellation insur.). Sound reasonable?

2. Am thinking about adding few days at end for either trip to Amsterdam or Bergen (then return to Texas). If head to Amsterdam would probably take train. Have you any suggestions on either of these two locations?

3. What other cruise lines would you consider for this type of trip?

It sounds good to me, pricewise. I like the RT - you can add days at the beginning and end and do your own air and save some $$$.

jmo, but have been to amsterdam a couple of times and not my favorite place. Ended up changing to Utrecht and training wherever. Personally I would check out Stockholm 'cause I've never been there and heard that it's wonderful.

yes a cruise is an easy way to see the baltic but i think you may be able to do better price wise. Although it was back in june of 2001, my wife and i were able to do a 14 day cruise on celebrity's galaxy with a balcony for $1367 per person. This was out of Amsterdam and other ports were Oslo, Stockholm, Helsinki, St. Petersburg (overnight),Gdynia, and Warremunde (Rostock).

This year, the Regal Princess is doing the Baltics during the summer.

Next year, the Grand Princess is doing the Baltics in the summer and the Regal is doing Alaska.

What month are you planning on going?

Prices a year out are always more expensive. It is hard to get a good price booking that far in advance. This summer, there were some unbelievable prices for the Baltics for May.

Try to get a TA that will lower the price if the price goes down (if they can) and also try to book during non-peek times to get the lowest cost (May or Sept verses July and August).

I did a land vacation to the Baltics and LOVED it. Plan on going back on cruise next year. Make sure you pick a great tour for St. Petersburg - it is awesome (Peterhoff, Hermitage, Winter Palace, Catherine's Palace).

Did Baltic 2 years ago on Galaxy out of Stockholm. It was a longer trip but cost only slightly more. Are you numbers including air? One suggestion, arrive in Europe 1 day prior to departure, stay overnite in embarkation city. Know some horror stories of people attempting to arrive same day as ship leaves, luggage maybe delayed and in some instances planes too.Look into the 12/14 cruises which may or may not cost more.

we are going on the Baltic Heritage cruise on Grand Princess in May. Have no information about sightseeing do you?

THERESA: Have you done the Baltic Heritagewith Princess? If yes, did you do sightseeing? Do you book through Princess or on your own. Which tours do you recommend. Any tips on where to stay on ship, how is food, et. Thanks.
