Really can't comment on Carnival as I'ved never sailed with them. I do remember sailing out of Miami on Celebrity the same time as a Carnival ship--Carnival band on the pool deck playing Latin music, people dancing, etc. It all looked very fun if I were about 25 years younger.

I think it depends on the ship and the route. We have had three CCL cruises and two were fine but the one out of Tampa had moments where some of the passengers were to say the least distasteful. Of course this is not the fault of the cruise line but if you have bargain prices some folks just cruise to booze and that can and did get ugly. I mean on one formal night some guy wore a huge fuzzy hot dog hat to dinner with tassels all around it. Yeesh! However the other two, one out of SJ, PR to the so. Caribbean and the other to NE/Canada out of NYC were fine.

I think the newer CCL ships would be very nice like the Vista.

Carnival? I am surprised. I would thought more like Princess or Celebrity.

A Carnival cruise out of New Orleans is on our "maybe" list.

I've seen reader polls on CN traveler and Travel and Leisure mags for years but CCL never was at the top. I am not sure hat criteria was used by RD.

There is nothing wrong with Carnival, but I wouldn't have picked them as the most trusted, especially with all those fires a few years past.

RD has gone downhill and their readership has changed lots through the years. RD used to be the most trusted mag but I doubt that is the case any more.

Larry, your link is a Carnival press release. Here is one from Fox News, explaining why they are the most trusted.

http://www.foxnews.com/travel/2015/1...uise-line.html

It will appear on the RD October issue, 40+ of the Most Trusted Brands In America in 2015.
