A cheap cab ride will take to you :

1. Abdul Abbas Mosque

then these are close together:

2. Cecil Hotel
3. Tomb of Unknown Soldier
4. Tahrir Square
5.Sadd Zaughloul Square
6. Roman Amphitheatre.

then these two are close together:

7. Pompey's Pillar
8. Catacombs

But for the Montazah Palace to need a taxi ride to get there but it is worth it, to just walk about and have the mist from the Mediterranean Sea on your face..... cool :)

I am sure youcan find a local taxi/guide that speaks good English.

Test him !! ask him some question of places you want to see and see how his language is !!

Eschew--the light show is NOT high on my list for many of the reasons posted.You will be surprised that we are only doing one day in Egypt..not the usual two or overnight, b ecause I think at this age and Parrot Pops frailities it would be too strenuous and we want to be rested for the Israel portion..We do have a private tour scheduled and if deemed it a possibility we ,can sign on to the second day or find a local guide to take us around. Except for Corfu we are doing all sorts of private tours.I do know we will be seeing one of the pryamids...and ending up in the bazaar and then a two hour ride back to the ship.. I think our tour is with Ramses.. At this point Eschew and Percy there are all these private tours we have signed up for and since we have two months to go, I cant remember all the details..but we did not want to do an overnight...I'm only sorry that we aren't stayng overnight in Jerusaleum..big mistake..

I agree you will not miss much by not seeing the Pyramid Light Show.

Percy...you would be so proud of me..I'm trying to "cut down" by color coordinating...I'm such an overpacker.. Do you know Parrot Pop is talking about taking the Eclipse from Miami to Southampton in April..normally we do it the other way around. How do you feel about t/a in April?
