Rates Went Down...

We booked a Run of Ship room on NCL Majesty in mid-October and just noticed the rates went down $100 per person.

Will NCL refund us $200 or maybe give us a $200 shipboard credit or something? We booked directly with NCL not a travel agency. Any thoughts and/or comments -- I will be calling NCL later this morning.

Your going in a month??? Probably unlikely a refund as you are beyond the final payment period. This is very common for rates to drop after final payment to fill up unsold space. A major reason I have been late booking for the past 15 years. It won't hurt to ask and good luck.

Thanks for the response. I did call and was told exactly that - rates drop as the cruise gets closers and unfortunately there is nothing that can be done since we've already paid in full. The unfortunate thing is that we just booked 2 weeks ago and payment in full was due right then. I wasn't able to talk with our NCL cruise consultant directly but will try her on Monday to see if maybe we can get a perk of some sort.

Perk or not, we're actually quite happy with the room they've assigned to us (we booked at a Run of Ship outside and got a category E room outside - non-obstructed view) so we've made out pretty well...

I have cruised on RCCI and Celebrity. Twice I have had a very good cruise price go down after I have made my final payment, as have my friends, and I have always gotton the money credited to my account. I use cruise.com for booking.

As far as i know, RCCL and Celebrity will refund money after final payment if the price drops... as long as it's not a special fare 'for new bookings only'.

I think Carnival will give an onboard ship credit if the fare drops.

Most of the other cruise lines don't honor price drops after final payment.

On 3 cruises we have been on the price dropped after full payment, and we received a refund.2 sent us checks, and on one, we opted to switch to a higher category suite. All 3 cruises were booked on the internet with cruise.com, cruisesonly.com, and icruise.com.
