QM2 november 2004
I got wonderful input from all of you when we planned our trip to Turks and Caicos last summer. Now we are booked on the QM2 for 10 nights in the Caribbean in Nov. Does anyone have input on this ship yet? I guess I'm wondering how formal are formal dress nights, will my husband need a tux,are there any hidden costs, and just generally-any tips, pointers, must-dos, don't dos? Thanks so much.

Linda, you will love her. I just got off her a week ago and just posted a thorough review of her at http://www.CruiseReviews.com/CunardLine/QueenMary21.htm
Note that there are lots of pictures so it will take a minute to load. Formal nights are very formal, but one can dine in the King's Court (alternative buffet area) if they do not want to dress. The ship is amazing! Cabins are smaller than you would think, but quite adequate for a shorter cruise. The public rooms are superb! Have a great cruise! Tom Ogg http://www.CruiseReviews.com |
I just read Tom's review and it was great. Thanks for all that info and those pictures. We are booked on a transatlantic crossing in July...I am so excited. This is my first.

JuneAnn,
Thanks for the kind words about the review. I can just imagine what the QM2 will be like plowing her way to England through the Atlantic. Have a great crossing! Tom Ogg http://www.CruiseReviews.com |
Thanks Tom for the great QM2 review. We are booked for the March 16 cruise. We will like to attent at least one of the formal nights. Do I need a tuxedo or a dark suit will be OK.? I do not own a tux, and frankly, unless it is absolutely necessary, I would not like to rent one either.
Thanks for any input you can give me in this regard. JL |
Hi Tom: I read that review yesterday. Great work. I imagine things will be better the more the staff gets used to the ship, each other and so on. Cheers, Larry. PS, I wish I had your job! LOL!

A dark suit will be just fine. Even on the inaugrual, several men were wearing dark suits instead of tuxs. Actually, I prefer a dark suit as it is much more comfortable.

Jackettop, I suspect that you are right. When you consider that Cunard basically doubled in size overnight, your observations are well focused.
Its tough work, but you know. Tom |
