Purchasing pictures from the cruise line

Would you like to have access to the pictures that were taken of you by the ship's photographers after the cruise?

jacketwatch Oct 14th, 2011 01:01 AM

Nope.

dogster Oct 14th, 2011 01:35 AM

Nope.

Marija Oct 14th, 2011 03:44 AM

Yes I would like pictures of jacketwatch and dogster.

jacketwatch Oct 14th, 2011 04:40 AM

Wait till the cruise is over. :D

KVR Oct 14th, 2011 06:40 AM

Maybe. What's the catch?

Aristotle Oct 14th, 2011 07:29 AM

Why? Are you selling them?

Dayenu Oct 14th, 2011 01:53 PM

Marija :))

Maybe. Not with those silly "mascots" though!

I never get pictures taken after the cruise. I am too busy getting off the ship.

No catch, and i'm not selling anything. Just curious about how cruisers felt about the way cruise lines sell pictures of themselves. It can be difficult to find one's photos in the gallery everyday and it seems short-sighted to only give cruisers the option to purchase their pictures while they are on the ship.

Oddly, it's not a topic that has ever come to mind, CA, but now that your mission is explained, I can see what an issue this is. Shocking, really.

I have put aside my concerns about the world economic meltdown; Gaddafi's fall suddenly holds no interest - The Mystery of the Missing Shipboard Photos has me in its grip.

I get confused by those big boards of cruise pics as well... all those smiling faces looking blankly back at me, everybody happy and content, like a graduation album from the University of Smug.

I want to be just like them. Ship's photographers only have to look at me and their cameras simply refuse to operate - squeezing those shutters tight in silent protest at the interloper.

What went wrong? Arghhh.

Now, I'll be awake all night worrying.

In all seriousiness, I would prefer the cruise lines didn't charge so much for the pictures. I think they would sell more. Instead of printing all those pictures and posting them on a board for people "to find". They should offer them on-line like in a kiosk and only print when purchased. Would save so much in time and expense.

I noticed on our last cruise they were really pushing for people to take as many pictures in front of their backgrounds as possible. Even offering a chance for a drawing for free pictures if you had your picture taken 4 or more times in one evening. No telling how many they throw away at the end of the cruise.

One issue I had this cruise is they took too many 'close-up' shots. I don't want or need pictures of just my face. If you going to put me in front of a really nice background, I would prefer a picture of the entire background and not just my face.

My other issue was taking port disembarktion pictures in the hallway with other passenger's confused facical expressions or the back of their head in my shot. If they really want me to pay $20+ for that, they are crazy.

I did note the issues on my satification survey after the cruise.

On a Celebrity cruise last year, the ship photograher called our cabin and said we won a free photo shoot around the ship. We set up an appointment for the next morning and proceeded to have our picture taken all over the ship. When we got back to the photo studio to review the pictures, he revealed the catch... the photo shoot was free, but the pictures will cost you. The minimum picture package was over $400! Needless to say we were more than a little peeved, and didn't purchase anything.
That experience has soured me on purchasing any pictures from the cruise lines.

YES. Since I have cruised so much I usually don't buy the pictures but do take a gander at them. Sometimes when I get home I think darn I wish I would have bought the embarkation photo and couldn't do it now.
