Princess room categories--please explain

I'm looking at outside rooms with balconies. There are 5 or 6 categories but I can't find any explanation what it means.

Does it have to do with location on the ship, obstructions, how fancy the room is, etc?

BTW, this is for Diamond/Sapphire and Coral/Island Alaska sailings.

Thanks!

Most balcony cabins are alike, the difference in category refers to which deck and where on the deck you are. The higher decks and more centered rooms are more expensive. The lower the deck and generally near the front or back of the ship are less expensive. Do a search on google and look for deck layouts for the particular ship. My advice is to be on a deck that is sandwiched between 2 decks with cabins. That's generally the quietest location, don't be above or below public spaces, like theater, casino, disco, etc. Keep in mind the the balconies on the Sapphire/Diamond are stairstepped, with no privacy on lower decks.

Frank, thank you so much for taking time to help a cruising newbie!

Connie, generally BB cabins are very desirable on the Caribe deck. Larger balconies half covered. I often get BB but if another category is less I'll go with that, for instance I have a BC booked for a future sailing. The top balcony is BA I believe.
