Does anyone know if the Princess's ships are now going into Princess Cay??

No, they are not (yet). Hopefully soon.

I'm going to get my papers/documents later this week. But I think they have substitued a fourth port for us instead of Princess Cay. This is for Feb. 2005.

I'll let you know and the port substituted is in Mexico.

Normally Princess tickets still say Princess Cays.

On our Eastern Caribbean trip, they substituted Nassau. Others have had San Juan. On the Western route, they are often using Costa Maya. Some are also getting a sea day. It all depends if they can find another port to dock in.

You are correct, Theresa. The tickets still read Princess Cay (I picked up documents last night)- but the port will actually be Majahual, Mexico, we are about 75% sure. It is new and supposed to be close to Costa Maya. I don't think it is much, but we are "out of the way" places people anyway, and it is definitely better than another sea day. We still have four ports. I'll post here about it when I return.

Costa Maya is the port area and Majahual is the nearby town about 5 miles away or so.

I have been there 3x.

If you are going to enjoy this port - plan to do something (beach, ruins, etc. . ). If you just hang out at the port area, you probably will not like it. The port area is just full of shops with a pool area.

I probably should add that Princess uses the term Majahual and Costa Maya interchangably - they refer to the port with both names.

We are going to Princess Cay in Feb on an eastern caribbean cruise, before we get back to Florida. Will that mean Mexico or just another day at sea or Nassua??

On the Eastern route you would not be going to Mexico, but most probably Nassau or near (whereever they can get permission to dock) but it they don't get permissions, it will probably be another day at sea.

Theresa, I thought the same thing that you just posted, about interchangeable names. Yet on one explanation I'm reading it says that Majahual's port is new and just finished. So I'm not sure that it really is the same as the Costa Maya port now. I'll post when I return. But regardless, you are correct and we plan on going to a ruins tour here as the ruins are close and we don't feel there is much to do in the port that we prefer. We are snorkling, water sports, beaching etc. to the max later in the cruise at better places.

We are on Dawn Princess, dep 29Jan05. Received our tickets last week - they say Princess Cay, but in checking Princess website, our personalizer shows Nasau. Short stop, 7:00 am to 11:30 am.

Princess Cay is open now, we were just there. They said we were only the third ship to stop since it's been reopened.

We were there and the whole time we swam etc. we were listening to electric saws and hammering. They are putting up more huts/ store fronts etc.

The "normal" cruise has Princess Cay as the last stop before sailing "home". Ours and many now have it reversed, as the first stop. It is another tender also, and they use the small ones that hang from the ship. I don't know why Princess is reversing the order. They say "maintain" and/or administrative regulations reasons when you ask. I only saw one printed reason in our first day's Princess Patter that said "maintanence regulations".

The bbq on Princess Cay was pleasant and right now- the water is not very warm.

We were at Princess Cays on last day of our cruise, Feb 16, 2005 and it was nice (all new) water a little cool, but we got use to it and swam most of the day. We are from Florida so we like water warm, most northerneers probably wouldn't of thought the water cool.

Our stop there was our last stop also.

Way to cold to swim for us!!! eek!

I from the North and I swim like a fish across a small lake in Michigan by late April or May and the water was COLD at Princess Cay last week. Only about 1/3rd of the snorkel renters could take it for more than a few minutes.

It is funny how human nature is so positive when vacationing, because groups were all standing around NOT in the water, telling everyone how it was OK once you got all the way in. Ha-ha!

This was Monday, Feb.14- Valentine's Day and it was about 85 degrees out and very, very sunny.
