Pre-booking spa appointments
I know it may seem silly but I may need to de-stress during my cruise and I hope to be able to get a massage during my trip. I am booked on Radiance Of The Seas for a Inside Passage Cruise the 1st week of July. I am going with my husband's family. I know we will be doing some excursions. Is it possible to pre-book the spa for treatments in advance of sailing? Am I right in assuming that w/ so many travelers appts will be hard to get? Thanks in advance. Wilma

I have never tried to book spa treatments online, but if you go directly to the spa upon boarding and book what you want there should be no problem getting appointments. The spa seems the busiest on formal nights, ladies gotting hair/nails etc. and those days are at sea days. If you are planning to stay on board any day in port those days are better and not usually as hectic because of so many people off the ship on excursions. As an aside, If you are interested in going to either Chops or Portofino for a night or two I would book those as soon as you get on board also. The spa and both restaurants will sell out early and usually no cancellations. Good luck cruising!

I have never had any trouble getting the time that I wanted for a spa treatment onboard. However, I will add that I have now officially sworn off spa treatments on cruises. I have had 2 recent unpleasant experiences and refuse to spend any more money for onboard treatments. Their high pressure sales pitch of products and other services overpowers any relaxation I receive from the treatments themselves. My specific problems have been on Radiance of the Seas & Carnival Valor. From now on, I'll save my $$ for spas onshore.

I generally avoid spas on ships for the reasons above: high pressure sales pitch and inferior quality, all at a high price.
Last month, it was my birthday and I treated myself to a port day special for a massage on HAL. I booked specifically with the understanding that if I got a sales pitch, I was not interested and would not be paying.
It was surprisingly good massage and I did not get a word about buying products.
