Viking is the least expensive, but AmaWaterways and Avalon have far superior boats and accomodations. As has been reviewed here a number of times, Viking seems to be fine, especially for the price, if all goes well. If there are problems, however, you are often on your own. This includes high water issues, when itineraries have to be changed, ports skipped, and water borne activities have to be changed to land activities (like busing) instead. Other cruise lines have similar problems, but seem to handle them with acceptable, and even superior, customer service when they occur.
There are also some serious incidents involving Viking that have concerned me to the point that I will not sail with Viking regardless of the price.

There was an incident with a Viking river boat in Budapest a few days ago, a crash with a sightseeing boat, resulting in several deaths. We thought Viking was rather ordinary. Liked AMAWaterways much more. Higher quality rooms, food, service.
