Please help, Alaska , glaciers

I posted a question on Tracy Arm small boat tour and the answer was enthusiatic. However, another question has reared its head. If I wanted to take other shore excursions from Juneau (zipline and whale watch), would the small boat excursion at College Fiord the day of boarding the cruieline be somewhat comparible to Tracy Arm?? Thanks again.

No not really the same. Tracy Arm is a 30 mile fjords, extremely scenic with the Twin Sawyers at the end. College Fjords is also extremely scenic, just different with more "open" sailing.

With your preference for other activities in Juneau, I would think adding the boat tour to Prince William Sound a great compromise.

Thanks, that's what I was hoping to hear. Only thing better would be a slightly shorter Tracy Arm cruise, but if wishes were money! Thanks

I have read that it isn't always possible to cruise Tracy Arm early in the season. When is it likely? We're thinking of booking about the third week in May. I'm afraid it will be too early.

Yep, you are likely too early. A better chance is from the second week of June. HOWEVER, this year, the 7-22 sailing of the NCL Sun was the FIRST sailing to make it within view of the South Sawyer. Still a couple miles away and tiny view.

With anyone going to Tracy Arm, I highly recommend another glacier tour to add to the itinerary, with NCL having the fantastic jet boat add ons- a must in my opinion. Otherwise, get a flight, or at least a closer look at Mendenhall.

Try harv and marv's whale watching in Juneau if you have time. They are great and we had a fantastic time.
