Dogster sort of camera shy though I assure you he is real and not a little old lady from AZ Thanks for the comments guys about the suit but my wife of course is the real eye candy. Actually I was looking for a sport coat and yikes! couldn't find anything less that $300.00. Well one day I went to Nordstroms and began looking at suits. Everything was at least around $600.00 except this Kenneth Cole all wool close out for $89.50. Eureka! So after some alterations it came to like $145.00. I'll take it. The really interesting stuff begins as we approached Ashdod.

Well one can't help but notice the sign at the check point saying "no Israelis allowed." It was a bit scary really, like you are entering a possibly harmful area. Then you see soldiers with the symbol of the "other" guys, i.e. the AK 47's. However we were calmed by the nice greeting from our Palestinian guide Ramzi. Not sure about the golden arches but I assume its not Mickey D's. As for the wall it is sad to me. It both protects but also excludes. I was told that Bethlehemites had to leave thru Jordan if they want to travel and that it takes a lot red tape and paper work to do so so for many it seems the wall keeps them in and isolated and I don't think many of us can imagine what that is like except maybe if you used to live in East Germany.

Hi Jacket,
Just want to say I read your TR. I will try to get around to actually posting one eventually. I loved reading yours and all your observations about things. It is funny how different our two trips were, even though we went to many of the same places. Of course, you did some of the tours in Israel while we lazed about, and you also did more sight seeing at other stops than we did.
The evening with you & Sue and Dogster was perfect. I do hope he is having a great time, wherever he is at the moment, and that he ferrets out interesting characters to write about.

Yep. We were delighted to meet you guys too. I will remember that night as we all had such a great time. The dogster is due to debark in Mumbai Dec. 11th and I get the idea he may be cruised out for a while. I look f/w to your TR and as I am off today its a good time to continue mine I suppose. Larry
