Peter Deilmann Cruises
 

Recently took 2 of these cruises on the Elbl and the Rhone. The food on both was outstanding. The tours for the most part were well done. Some however are offered bi-lingually and after a while this can become somewhat tiresome.

Could you tell me which ships you took? I've been interested in taking the Cezanne in Rhone river for a while.

Very definitely there are about half of the Peter Deilmann boats that are 60% American passengers but the other half it is reversed. See your travel agent.<BR><BR>The Cezanne has the new Rhone itinerary this year and I do not know what the passenger profile is.<BR><BR>As J Hull mentioned most tours will be bi-lingual since you are sailing with a foreign company in a foreign land.<BR><BR>Paul<BR>

We took the Cezanne on the Rhone and it was an enjoyable trip. The ship is about 10 years old and was extensively renovated when Deilmann took it over about 3 years ago. Common rooms are spacious but it is a little noisy when sailing at night. Re the "60% american" comment.Each of our 2 cruises in June had very few U.S. citizens on board.6 or fewer on each trip.Is this a result of 9-11?

Maria- We took the Cezanne on the Rhone 3 years ago-- the cabins are bigger than US cruising ships-- the public areas are small- one small lounge/bar area.....1 dining room with buffet breakfast and lunch--and no pool- just a hot tub on top with limited deck chairs--- <BR>The cruise itself was GREAT- met some wonderful German and French people--lots of Germans take this ship.<BR><BR>But the people that own the Cezanne also came out with a NEWER model called the Cezanne II and it has a pool...you might want to look at it's itinerary.<BR><BR>The Rhone is awesome to go on and the locks are better than the Panama Canal in my opinion===it was more up close and personal....And the side trips were fun and informative....<BR><BR>Hope this helps

I do not know why some of Peter Deilmann boats have more Americans than others. Must depend on the itinerary. I am sure when we are in awe of the European scenery they are discussing what kind of wine to order for dinner. <BR><BR>If one wants river boats that cater to Americans, Viking River Cruises is the way to go. When they purchased KD River Cruises last year they have left that portion of their company with the European flavor.<BR><BR>Paul
