Hello, I was on the 16-day transAtlantic crossing of the SS Norway, Sept 2 to 18, 2001.

Our good friends from NYC that we were travelling with had cabin K080 on the Sky Deck. The wrap around terrace was lovely and huge, but it did overlook the basketball courts (blah!). The vibrations from the stern in the cabin were pretty bad; and at several points in the voyage the whole cabin shook like a bad earthquake!

This was going across the N Atlantic at full speed; maybe the vibrations in the Caribbean wouldn't be so bad.

We had a "CC" Superior DeLuxe Outside Cabin (V197) and we were very happy.

Hope this helps!

Michael
NYC

Hi Peter!

I'm sorry to alarm you!

K080 does overlook the ocean because it is so high up; but if you look down you're right over the basketball courts. You can look straight down to the sea from the side.

It is a nice, luxurious cabin (with a FAB bathroom), but it vibrated A LOT on the trip. At one point, the sofa cushions were "flapping" up and down like a BIG mouth opening and closing! Also, the sliding glass doors and the windows would "bang" (!) when hit with a gust of wind, and at other times rattle a lot. Our friends also complained of finding their stuff on the floor in the mornings, instead of on the dresser or coffee table where the items had been left!

Now, remember all this happened on a transAtlantic crossing going at full-speed. A Caribbean cruise might yield much better results, since this "new" deck & cabin were designed for Caribbean cruises. So, you might have K080 be a FAB cabin with just a wee bit of vibration, and well worth it!

Maybe you can quiz NCL for more info?

I like the "CC" cabins on Viking & Norway Decks. These used to be the top-of-the-line First Class cabins ("cabines deLuxe") when the ship was SS France from 1962 to 1974. They are huge (264 to 352 sq ft), with full bathrooms. Some even have 2 bathrooms (one with toliet & sink, the other with bath, shower and sink). Most have two large portholes, but some have three. All of them have a lot of original details from the ship's glorious past (deluxe vanities, inlaid dressers, etc).
And, of course, they are all located midships for ultimate stability. And... they're quite reasonably priced!

Hope this helps!

Feel free to email me with any questions!

Michael
NYC
