can someone please share your experience with online agent such as Vacations to-go or Cruise.com, we are looking at their NewYork New England cruise for Oct 13, 2010 for $250.00 p.p. less than what Costa (the cruise line company) is offering.........almost too good to be true.

It's not unusual to get a lower fare with a TA than with the cruise line directly, but be sure you're comparing apples to apples...

...and before booking, I'd suggest you check the Costa reviews on cruisecritic.com.

Both Vacations-to-go and Cruise.com have good reputations, so I wouldn't hesitate to book with them. You might also try http://www.cruisecompete.com. Here you select your cruise, and get competing quotes from online agents. You may well find a lower price.

But before sailing Costa, do take Jiminso's advice seriously. It's not the same experience you would get with Royal, Princess, Holland, etc.--and a lot people are not happy with it.

I have to agree with parrotmom on this. I have heard nothing but bad reviews. We have met passengers in ports when we were with another line who were on Costa and they were very very disappointed.

Get a TA who will talk to you and look after all the details and who you can call at 2AM if needed. Why save a couple of hundred dollars when you are spending thousands. Before you book a cruise, do your homework ( on the internet, in the guide books, etc.) Find the right cruise line for you. Also before booking shore excursions research the options. Many ports are great on your own. I have decided to forego future cruises rather than rely on cruise line's excursions. They are overpriced, mendacious, selfserving and frustrating.

Ive had excellent service from Cruise dot com, and can rec them for sure. I dont know about Costa Atlantic but like others have heard at best 'mixed' reviews. However, Ive cruised before on ships w/mixed reviews and done fine.

Go to Cruise Critic dot com and read reviews of that specific boat is a suggestion

My guess is all the bad things about Costa come from people who had no idea there were other than US contries in the world and other languages than English. Come with open mind and you'll like it.
