OK You Alaska Cruise Veterans - I'd like to hear your opinions of this itinerary:

Depart Vancouver - Sitka - Juneau - Skagway - cruising Sawyer Glacier - Wrangell - Prince Rupert (time for daytrip excursions in all those ports) - Return SF

This will be our first Alaska visit and will not include any pre-post exploring time.

This offers a nice itinerary with varied touring options available, more than you can do in 10 trips.

This sailing includes wonderful Sitka, but not Ketchikan. If you really want to make a decision right for your trip. Head to a shore excursion list and see what is of interest in each of these areas, determine if you are hitting your priority? Budget fully, you get only half a trip without them.

It seems like you are missing a lot of Alaska! You miss Fairbanks, Denali and Mt. McKinley on this trip! You should consider doing a northbound or southbound cruise to/from Vancouver to see some of Anchorage and the main part of Alaska. I would also do a tour to Fairbanks, Denali and Mt. McKinley, but would get to Anchorage at a minimum.

This is a reasonable itinerary if you only have seven days. However, be aware you are only seeing a very small part of Alaska. Even if you just took a wever day cruise to Seward, you would be able to get in Glacier Bay and Prince William Sound. If you do this cruise, just try to get back to see the rest of Alaska someday.

Frankly I would never go to just Anchorage. If you can add another week, sure a one way cruise is just excellent. But time is necessary and if you don't have it, you will be extremely limited in what you can do.

For clairfication- for McKinley, a flight is just about a given in order to see it. Some of the best options are out of Talkeetna.
