Has anybody been on this Cruise line recently and what did you think of them.

Do you know about the MS Insignia.?

Apparently this is a smaller ship about 700 passengers.
I am thinking of booking a Midterranean Cruise with them for later October 2004

On the Regatta for two weeks, not a pleasant experience. I would recommend one of the proven cruise lines. Also, their prices are really not that great. Shop around, and go to cruisequick.com for the best prices on whatever you choose.

Well, well Percy, we meet again....small world. We are also looking at a cruise on the Insignia, but in 2005. I have been talking to a travel agent who has sailed with Oceania several times and assures me they are very nice. As I'm sure you are aware, they are offering 2 for 1 + free air through August 31st. I, also, would be interested in reviews of this line from others.

We were on the REGATTA last Nov and sailing again shortly. I don't know what manycruiser means by take a "proven line" - Oceania has been around more than a year now and none of the principals in the company are novices. If you are looking for intersting ports, small ships, any time dining, no formal nights and you don't need big shows, casinos, games, etc. Oceania will fit the bill. Food was excellent, cabins and the beds the best in the business (we have been on over 20 cruises on a number of lines) and the ports not usually the "run-of-the-mill most cruise lines stop at. All depends on what you are looking for in a ship and the cruise. What you get on a 680 passenger ship will not be the same as what the 2000+ passenger ships offer. If you want big entertainment, casinos, formal nights, etc., go for another line with larger ships.

We were on the wait list for this cruise but it did not pan out.

It sails out of Athens on October 24th and ends in Barcelona.

It is a slim chance that someone cancels out after they have paid their final payments, but some do for health reasons.

I have read quite a few reviews about these two smaller cruise ships.

About Alaska , I would probaly go again next year...if a great deal comes up, it is a nice way to spent a week.

I would just do different tours.

Oceania must be doing something right...we are "waitlisted" for a Cat. G on the April 27th, 2005 Athens/Rome sailing. Only other cabins still available are suites. This is the only 10 day sailing available to our selected ports until late Sept., when the prices are considerably higher. If we lose out of this, any other suggestions on which cruise line to choose?

We will be on the Insignia in about three weeks to do the Black Sea out of Athens for our 25th wedding anniversary! We have heard a lot of wonderful things about Oceania, so I wouldn't let a few stray posts keep you from enjoying, what appears from most reports to be lovely ships with great service and four different, no fee, restaurants and lovely beds. Feel free to check back with us in October, when we return.
