Ocean Princess movies
 

Does anyone know if there is a Cinema on the Ocean Princess or are movies just shown in the cabin?

Was on the ocean princess last year. They have a lounge that is set up like a movie theatre. There are movies there in the afternoon & live shows at night. However wiht all the activities, we never even wanted to see a movie.

When we are on the Sea Princess last year - and we'll be back crusing on the Sea Princess in a couple of months -(which I believe is a sister ship to the Ocean), movies are shown on the stateroom TV (it's a 13-inch screen) several times a day, but not continuously, and also one showing at a specific set time (the movie shown changes daily), usually mid-afternoon, in the quite large and comfortable Princess Showroom (or was it the Vista Lounge? I could never keep them straight!)(the place seats several hundred), and like Laura posted above, it was just like any theatre you'd find at home. But make no mistake, it's a true showroom, NOT a conference room like you'd find in a hotel or convention center - i.e., one level floor with metal chairs. They hold many different types of entertainment events in the two showrooms at different times day and night so while it's not a true "dedicated" movie theatre, when the lights go down and the movie comes on it sure feels like it! Also, I don't recall it particlarly being a "small pull down screen" (I have this mental image of some guy fumbling with a metal contraption, something like you would show home movies on or use for a meeting/conference, ha!). I had no problem seeing the picture, it seemed to me close to a regular movie-sized screen (albeit more like the newer multi-plex theatres with smaller screens rather than the large screens like the good old movie house days) showing a good quality print with an excellent sound system that was easily viewed anywhere you sat. The seats are fitted with pull-up tables at the arm rest to put a drink and/or snack on, too (a lot of people don't know this!). We've been on Carnival and NCL and I don't recall either showing movies in a theatre, they had in-cabin movies only. The movie was a nice option when you had too much sun and wanted someplace cool to spend some quiet time in a comfortable setting. And no, there is no additional charge to see the movie, just walk on in and sit yourself on down! The Princess Patter (your on-board daily news letter delivered to your cabin) advises what movie at what time is playing during the day. Hope this helps.

Thanks everyone. I agree with you, Sandy....there are a few times when it is just good to go in and sit down to watch a movie. I don't particularly like watching them in the cabin.
