Norwegian or Celebrity to Bermuda

My wife and I (30 in age) want to cruise to Bermuda from New York in early October. Any recommendations on which line or ship to take/avoid?

We've cruised on the Horizon and the Zenith, both of Celebrity's ships that go to Bermuda, (although we didn't sail them to Bermuda) and I'd have no problem recommending either of those ships for a cruise to anywhere. The food and service on both ships was very prompt and personal, and we had no complaints of any kind about either ship or cruise experience. If you can find a deal on Celebrity that's even close to NCL, I'd pick Celebrity any day of the week to any destination.

Hi-we are taking our 5th cruise to Bermuda from Boston-last year and this year on the Norweigan Majesty. We like the convience-it sits in St. George for 3 1/2 days. We take the bus to Hamilton. Hamilton turned me off for cruising, it's like being in the middle of New York with three or four cruise ships parked there and all those passengers coming off and shopping...St. George is quite charming, see if there is a ship that goes to St. George and Hamilton. I do not recommend being berthed off the Dockyard--it never took off and after our second visit we have promised ourselves not to return there..--Oh yes, we have cruised in October... Please write if you have questions.

I'm going through the same situation as you are, Bruce. I'm taking my mom on her first cruise, and since we're from the Boston area, I thought we'd try something out of Boston. I've been on Celebrity and loved it, loved it, loved it. One place I called offered free transportation from Boston to NY, so that made the decision even more difficult. But ultimately, we decided to go w/ Norwegian out of Boston. First, for the convenience, and second, we got a much better cabin for a lower price than an inside cabin on Celebrity. I haven't heard anything really negative about Norwegian (in fact, it's all been pretty positive). so that's why we went w/ them. I'm sure you won't be disappointed w/ either line you choose!

Hi Julie-you have not made a mistake--we just booked the Majesty again--and had a difficult time getting a room...it is a complete delight--we live in Marlborough and when you drive into Boston..the longshoreman unpack your car, you can park your car in the garage and you are on vacation.. No hassle of flying, buses, etc. When I asked my agent why I had a difficult time getting a room (I had a choice of two outside rooms-neither really acceptable) she said it was all repeaters....If you need any further info please write and I'll send phone #. For several reasons I will not post publicly I would stay away from the Horizon..., but if you insisted go on the Norweigan Crown from N.Y. The new Majesty has been stretched and addition of another dining room, pool, bistro, piazzaria etc. will make this a new ship.. I can hardly wait... When are you going? We are leaving the 30th of May...

We just completed a 10D cruise on the Horizon to the SE Carib. There was 4 sea days on this itenerary. The ship: The cabins I quess are comparable to any other ship. We had a ocean-view room that is 172 SF. I consider this a walk-in closet. We have cruised on RCCL 3X and it is about the same size but the bathrooms are a little larger. If you like to ppwer walk around the deck you will find it a hassle on the Horizon. The walking/jogging deck is on 12 above the pool. Everybody lays out and you have to dodge the the lounge chairs on sea days. No hot tub. 2 pools. Everything else is comparable.
Food: Excellent. The food quality and menus are a step above RCCL. Celebrity has its own butcher shop on board, they make all there own ice cream and deserts on board.
Service: Wait staff is attentive. Cabin stewards are very friendly & accomodating.
Entertainment: The ship's singers & dancers were excellent. We found the entertainment brought on board to be lacking pizazz. A juggler & magician, etc.

We cruised to Bermuda last May on the RCCL, Song of America. I feel RCCL all round is comparable to Celebrity. We feel the hired entertainment is better. On board activites on the ships are about the same. RCCL food is good. Service is good. We will cruise RCCL again. My advice to Bermuda on RCCL is not going on the Song of America. I believe that ship was being taken out of service after our cruise last year. If RCCL has a better ship I don't feel you will be displeased with RCCL or Celebrity.

Have cruised 2 times on Celebrity, and 3 on NCL...and it's Celebrity, hands down. Have fun. Their ships are clean and the food is the best.

been on Horizon and Dreamward to Bermuda. Celebrity lines food is far superior to NCL. RCCL will have the Nordic Empress going to Bermuda this year. Been on 3 RCCL ships and highly recommend RCCL also. Norwegian Crown is also doing this run. I enjoyed the Horizon, our cabin was a nice size, sparkling clean, as was the rest of the ship. The hot tubs were open, although I must agree about the jogging track, if you want to run or power walk, go early or late. Our dreamward cabin had a balcony which we used a lot while docked in Bermuda. It was great having breakfast out there. The Nordic Empress has nice cabins with balconies. Would recommend getting one if you can. Dont know where you are from, but any info you want on NYC, I would be happy to help since I'm right here. If you guys are foodies, go with Celebrity or RCCL.
