New to Board

Hello All,

I am new to Fodor's and I hope I have some good info to offer. I am in the gaming industry and can shed some light on casino crusing.

I look forward to learning from you guys and vice versa!

It looks to me that overall odds in ship casino are lower than in Las Vegas. Is that true?

You are correct, however certain cruise lines are now actively seeking real players.

For example - NCL now offers a great loyalty program, where players can earn comps to excursions, spa treatments, etc. You can also charge chips to your cabin now.

Another thing to note is that the upgraded - larger - "suite-r" cabins are now reserved for players. Along the same lines as Vegas.

If you have other questions, please let me know :)

Welcome Loni: This topic has come up a lot and your help will be a welcome addition. One common comment is that the Casinos on the ships have a captive audience and thus set the odds more in the ships favor than Casinos in Vegas, etc. where they know that they have lots of competition. Your thoughts?

Hi *Hold*

Thanks for the welcome. It is a common curiousity about odds on casino cruises. The truth is that the casinos on ship are smaller and have less games - and you are right - not much competition. That is why they are seriously trying to recruit new players.

Another element to consider is that Vegas is built around gaming - whereas there are so many other things to do wile on board and off (excursions, etc) - so the casinos need to do what they can to earn their $ on the casino floor - in terms of odds.

Hope that makes sense and sheds a little light on your question.

Thanks!
