New England Fall Foliage Cruises
 

We plan to travel from Australia for Fall Foliage 2011 - starting in Boston and meandering through Mass, NH and Vermont to Montreal where we plan to cruise to New York. Can anyone advise us as th what Fall can be seen from these Cruises. We're looking at Crystal Symphony departing approx Oct 15th.

That date is about right for peak color usually starts

peaking in Canada/Maine late September

and works its way down usually but not always.

But odds are great you will see a lot of colour then.

or maybe not! One year I was on a bus tour of New England from October 8 - we hit the peak!

Thank you - yes, we understand that the peak dates are unpredictable.With regard to the Cruise - do you see much coastline with foliage ? Would it be best to book a starboard balcony room for a southbound Montreal to New York cruise ?

The only one who can tell you about "peak season" is Mother Nature and she ain't talking...lol. This was not the best year for foliage in N.E because of the rains...so TWINKLE60....go and enjoy New England and Canada and the best seafood ever...especially lobster and I don't mean the Caribbean kind

I'm a New England native and have never been on a "foliage cruise" but I can tell you this..the trees along the coast are mostly pines, not trees that change color. If you truly want to see foliage, you should definitely drive through New England. Lots of great stops and places, and much cheaper than Australia rates :)

Why don't you look at American Cruise Lines? We have traveled with them twice and were very happy. Small ships that can go into waters that other larger ships can't approach.
